Yin-Yang Bacon

Image
One night while eating Chinese food I started to reflect on all these fabulous ingredients and it hit me.... "I must create something!!!!" That's how most of my recipes come to me while eating food or watching TV. So I pondered away and I let my creative inclinations kick in. I have been eating Asian food all my life so this can't be that difficult. What ever I was going to make it had to be original. Than it hit me like a ton of bricks. I wonder how Bacon would taste with Asian ingredients? I love Bacon and Asian food and I cook it and eat it often so why not. If you ask me it's a match made in heaven.  I offer my version of Asian Bacon here so enjoy.  So why the name Yin-Yang?  For that you have to click on the link to first find out what Yin-Yang means but I will give you an abridged definition. Simple Chinese philosophy describes Yin-Yang as opposite or contrary forces that appears contradictory but actually gives rise...

Rumified Bacon Bomb

Rumified Bacon Bomb!!!!!!! I was thinking the other day about Rum and all the great recipes that are made with it and I thought to my self why not bacon . If you can make Rum Balls with it why not bacon!!!  Think about it for a moment Spice Rum and meat sounds like a match made in Heaven. Rum is great in anything. If it's good enough to drink it will be undeniably great in food. Anyhow that is my hope anyway.  I decided to use boneless short ribs for this bacon because it contains lots of fat and is readily available.  So what goes well with a Spiced Rum? After tasting the rum I came up with some ideas that I think will work. Spiced Rum reminded me of cookies. Hmm, that sparked an idea!! So I Googled spiced cookies and found recipes for Pumpkin, Ginger, Molasses and Spiced cookies. All these recipes were similar with just some minor ratio differences in their ingredients. So what is g...

Maple Bacon Bomb

Crown Royal Maple Bacon Bomb Who doesn't like Crown Royal or Bacon? These are two winning combinations if you ask me!! My inspiration for this combo occurred to me while eating a BLT and sipping on Bourbon. And of course I was watching the food channel too. Anyhow, I thought, I like Bourbon, whiskey and of course I love bacon why not combine them.  "A Marriage made in  Heaven"   I think this  is a winning combination!! Now that being said can I possibly improve on my   Heavenly Bacon?   Well of course I can. "To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often" Winston Churchill I decided to use boneless short ribs for this bacon because it contains lots of fat and is readily available. I love Short Ribs. I purchased my short ribs at Costco. Costco has a pretty good selection of meat but finding the right pieces can be tricky. I remember asking one of the meat cutters for ...

Heavenly Bacon?

Image
HEAVENLY BACON?  I have written about bacon before on a previous blog called My Love of Bacon  but why do it again?  Because it's bacon!!! Some of you may not know the history of bacon but at one time it referred to all pork products.  To most people Bacon  refers to Pork (belly of the Pig) and a small percentage of us now know that it can be any meat that is cured and smoked.  There is Lamb Bacon , Turkey Bacon, Beef Bacon and several other cousins varieties.  Canadian Bacon which comes from the eye loin which comes pre-cooked.  There is bacon square that comes from the jowl of the pig also called Guanciale.  How about the Italian version called Pancetta which is cured but not smoke and is rolled like a salami.    Bringing home the bacon is a common term that refers to bringing home a paycheck and or money but that was not always the original meaning.  In the 12th ...
